Beautiful Cottage is an original acrylic landscape painting, 13 by 20 inches, with a sandy path winding through flowering trees under a blue and green sky. The greenery is built from hundreds of small dabs of orange, yellow, pink and white laid over deep green, so the leaves read as light rather than as shapes. Thin dark trunks hold the picture together on both sides, and the path runs from the bottom edge into the clearing, which is the brightest part of the canvas. It is a quiet painting, and it does its work in a room where someone sits still. This is the canvas itself, not a print or a reproduction. It is signed Lexis in the lower right corner and there is only one of it. The second photograph shows the painting from the side, on a stretched canvas, with the paint worked right out to the edge.
