This is an original handmade work and there is one only, so colours and textures can differ on screen and in a photo. The piece is cut to an irregular shape as shown and ships unframed.
Cultural context & artisan story
The portrait tradition in contemporary South African art often works with found material, letting newsprint and packaging carry the texture of daily life into the image. Packing Arrows sits in that tradition: a face built from the paper trail of a city, so the sitter and her world arrive together.

Product description
Overview
An original mixed media portrait on collaged paper and cardboard, 97 by 90 cm with an irregular torn outline. A woman's face is drawn in charcoal and acrylic over layers of found paper, newsprint, maps and fabric scraps, with a masthead reading Art Times surviving in the collage at the top edge. The layers do the storytelling: the face emerges from, and dissolves back into, the printed noise around it. This is a one of one work by South African artist Gary Frier, whose mixed media portrait Here Comes the Sun is also in this shop. It is a statement piece for a living room, office or gallery wall, and the irregular outline means it hangs as an object rather than a rectangle. Handle by the edges and keep out of direct sunlight.
