Poise is an original acrylic on canvas painting by Victor Ubabike, a Nigerian contemporary artist widely recognised for his practice of Geometric Figurative Expressionism. Completed in 2023, this large-scale figurative work measures 91.44 × 106.68 cm (approximately 36 × 42 inches) and is sold unframed. The painting is less about posture and more about restraint: the mastery of tension held in stillness. Ubabike's signature approach of reducing the human form to bold geometric planes and muted, considered colour creates a composition that radiates quiet gravity. There is a controlled power in the figure's stance: nothing is excessive, everything is deliberate. "Poise" becomes a meditation on inner equilibrium and the strength found in stillness. This is a compelling work for collectors of African contemporary art, figurative painting, and expressive fine art. It represents over two decades of Ubabike's practice, from Impressionism through abstraction to his current Geometric Figurative Expressionist voice, shaped by a rigorous formal training at Auchi Polytechnic and years of international exhibition. - Original, one-of-a-kind artwork - Medium: Acrylic on canvas - Dimensions: 91.44 × 106.68 cm (36 × 42 in) - Year: 2023 - Sold unframed - Artist: Victor Ubabike (b. 1982, Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria)
