Black, red, green and white are the Kenyan flag, and each colour is read: black for the people, red for the blood shed for independence, green for the land, and white for peace. Malkia is Swahili for queen. The store name says the same thing as the white in the flag. Mulembe is the Luhya word for peace, and it is how Luhya speakers greet one another, so the maker's own name and her country's flag are making the same point.

Handmade geometric drop earrings beaded in the Kenyan flag colours, black, red, green and white, with gold beads marking the corners, on gold plated hooks. They are an open diamond rather than a solid panel, which is why they are light on the ear at this size. That matters on beaded earrings, because the usual complaint about a statement pair is the weight. The colours are the flag read around the shape rather than stacked in stripes, so it is recognisable without being literal. If you want Kenya on your ears without a flag printed on them, this is the pair. The maker gives the size as 3 by 3cm. Every bead is threaded by hand, so the two will not be identical twins and neither will match the photographs exactly. Keep them away from perfume, and store them flat rather than hanging.
