EHC stands for the earring that heard the conversation, the maker's idea that a button spends its working life holding clothes together while hearing everything said over it. This pair pushes the idea furthest, because the metal edge is doing the work a setting does on a real stone while the thing underneath is still a button. There is no print or motif on it and the listing does not claim one. It is made in Ibadan, Nigeria, and the connection to the continent is the maker.

Button stud earrings with a gold tone metal crescent curved around one edge, sold as one pair in black, red, or a brown tortoiseshell with a crystal centre. This is the dressiest pair in the collection and the metal edge is what does it. The curve gives the button a setting, so from across a room the earring reads as jewellery rather than as a button, which is the opposite of what the plain wooden pairs are doing. If you want the maker's idea somewhere nobody will remark on it, pick this one. The buttons are moulded plastic with a high gloss. The black and red pairs are plain faces with the metal curve alone; the brown pair is a tortoiseshell effect with a small crystal set in the centre. The post is fixed to the back of the button, so nothing shows from the front. Wipe with a dry cloth and keep them out of hot water.
