The maker lists the cord as leather; in the photographs it looks like a fine braided cord, so please ask the seller before buying if leather matters to you. The surface finish varies between pendants, from hammered (photos 1 and 2) to smoother (photo 3). Brass darkens naturally with wear and can be polished back with a soft cloth.
