Each lamp is made by hand, so the beads vary a little in size and shape from piece to piece. The first photograph shows the shade while it was still being beaded; you receive the finished lamp as in the second photograph. The listing does not say whether a bulb is included, so please message the seller before buying if you need one. Keep the clay beads dry.
Made in Zambia from local clay and raw sisal. Each bead is rolled by hand and left to dry in the air, and the base is wrapped by hand in sisal rope, a plant fibre long used across southern and eastern Africa for rope, mats and baskets.
Dispatch in 2-4 weeks. Delivery windows vary by destination at checkout.

A handmade table lamp with a shade of white clay beads on a sisal wrapped base. The shade is a round metal frame hung with rows of hand rolled, air dried clay beads, strung close together so they make a soft, textured drum. The base is a tall cone wrapped by hand in raw sisal rope, natural brown with the fibres left a little rough, and the shade sits on a frame resting on top of it. When lit, the light comes through the gaps between the beads, giving a warm glow with a beaded pattern rather than a hard beam. You can see the making in the first photograph, taken while the shade was still being beaded: the frame, the rows of beads going on, and the sisal base underneath. The second photograph shows the finished lamp. It is wired with a white flex and fitted with a UK three pin plug. It stands 62cm high with a shade 33cm across, so it suits a side table, a console or a bedside. Dust with a dry cloth or a soft brush. Keep it dry, as the clay is air dried rather than fired.
